The Joshua Incident performs original songs in an alt-country vein bound to the rich traditions of country, folk, and cosmic American music. The band features guitarist/ lead singer Todd Thurlow’s songs, steeped in the sounds and sights of rural northern Penobscot County, Maine, where he grew up.
Thurlow’s understated vocals are joined by singer/guitarist Lindsay O’Neill to form a core of tight duet singing. Lindsay also takes the lead on several songs. They are joined by Dan Beller-McKenna’s pedal steel and dobro licks and John “Hal” Halstead’s steady and upright bass lines.
The Joshua Incident delivers up-tempo, word-playing honky-tonk, too.
Think Ryan Adams fused with Gillian Welch, mixed with some of Townes Van Zandt’s darkness and Gram Parsons’ yearning and lightened by Merle Haggard’s barroom confessions.
