Ric Allendorf, Rachel Marie Schachter, Crowes Pasture - RISA Songwriters in the Round (with Mushroom Musicians)

On the last Friday of every month, Aaron Tornberg and others at the new Rhode Island Songwriters Association (RISA) event present: Songwriters in the Round (with Song Prompts).

Songwriters are invited to perform in groups of 2 or 3 with at least one song prompted by the audience from the previous month. "???" is this month's prompt.

Rachel Marie Schachter

Rachel Marie is a cunning wordsmith, and precociously sophisticated. Clear and mature vocal production colors songs that are relevant, relatable, and far-reaching. The social awareness of folk meets the introspection of the singer-songwriter tradition with a moderate dose of snark. This Bethlehem, PA native has made regular appearances at Musikfest and at the acclaimed folk venue Godfrey Daniels where she has shared the stage with Antje Duvekot and the Kennedys.

Ric Allendorf

Award-winning Massachusetts songwriter, artist/art educator, and sourdough breadsmith; Ric was hooked by the Boston acoustic music resurgence of the 80’s, as well as Canadian, Celtic & British ngerstyle players. He spent his college years in echoing stairwells throughout Boston, honing his guitar skills (phrasing, tunings, and frailing) long before emerging as a songwriter.

Crowes Pasture

Crowes Pasture is the Boston-based acoustic duo of
Monique Byrne and Andy Rogovin. The duo brings leather and lace harmonies to classic and contemporary folk music in a style that draws from old-time, folk and bluegrass traditions, including such artists as Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, Ian & Sylvia and the Civil Wars.
