Songwriters in the Round featuring Terry Kitchen, Tom Smith and Mark Bishop Evans

Three great songwriters in-the-round in this funky and intimate venue! You can't get much closer to the music than this. Doors at 7:30 pm and the music starts at 8:00 pm. $10 suggested donation.

Called "one of New England's best songwriters" by The Boston Globe, award-winning folksinger Terry Kitchenwrites songs that are portraits of ordinary people and emotions, captured with extraordinary compassion, honesty and humor. Though best known as a songwriter, Terry is also a compelling interpreter and live performer, and Rubies in the Dust, his latest release, is a choice collection of favorite covers and live tracks. His music has been heard across the U.S and Canada, with his song "Enjoy It While It Lasts" reaching #8 on the national Folk-DJ chart. Kitchen's songs have won the Mid-Atlantic and USA Song Contests and been runner-up in the John Lennon Song Contest, and have appeared in numerous films. He has been performing on folk stages since the 1990s, releasing ten CDs, and he was the leader of the groundbreaking '80s band Loose Ties, whose experiences he recounts in his novel Next Big Thing, called "a great debut novel" by The San Francisco Book Review.

Tom Smith’s songs are in turns humorous, touching, thought provoking, and inspiring. Deeply rooted in the old-school folk tradition, his timeless stories are told with a voice that is honest and sincere with melodies that you will remember forever.

In the words of noted WUMB-FM Boston radio DJ, Dave Palmeter – “Contrary to what a lot of people think, folk music is still a living tradition. It’s a living tradition that feeds on new songs that speak of people’s wants, people’s needs, people’s struggles and people’s triumphs. Tom Smith is more out of the tradition of say Pete Seeger and Tom Paxton than Jackson Browne or Connor Oberst. He’s a man who writes songs that seem like they’ve always been there. There are very few songwriters working today that I would call folksingers, but I would call Tom Smith a true folksinger.”

This California transplant captures listeners with his rich baritone and surprising range. Mark Bishop Evans is a prolific songwriter of folk, rock, ballads and Americana. He is a gifted storyteller whose lyrics and melodies resonate with the soul. He shares messages that audiences find profoundly moving.
